Following on from yesterday’s Part Three on thoroughly checking the interior of your potential rental property, the next thing to check would be the electrics. Is there any loose wiring or lights not working?
Check if there are any general repairs needed in the house and when this is planned.
Is there a loft and if so, is it usable for storage? If not, is there good storage facility in the house or apartment to rent? It might sound a minor concern but there’s nothing worse than tripping over stuff piled up where it’s not supposed to be.
What’s the upstairs of the property to rent like? Good heating throughout? Is the bathroom clean and hygienic with well installed units and sealants around the sink, shower and bath?
Check the telephone and electrical points – are there enough. Is the property in a broadband accessible area?
Part Four will cover safety checks which are all important when renting a house from other people who are responsible for this.
