Situated in south-east London and bordered by the districts of Bromley, Greenwich, and Dartford. Formed in 1965 when Bexley , Erith, Crayford and Sidcup were combined, Bexley now has a population of 218,000 and is governed by a Labour-run council.

Suburban Bexley stretches from Sidcup to the new housing developments within Thamesmead. Roads of semis and terraces crossed by busy carriageways carrying traffic into London or south-east. Sidcup houses the borough's best properties. Sidcup has an impressive mixture of Large Victorian and Edwardian detached and semi-detached properties, many set in large grounds.
A quaint village atmosphere surrounds the High Street in Old Bexley, with Edwardian terraces and larger properties fringing the River Cray. 1930's semis and larger more modern properties can be found in the roads off Park Hill Road and towards Bexleyheath.
The Broadway, well stocked with all the usual high street names. The best of the housing is to be found in the roads surrounding Danson Park.
Erith still retains its industrial character and tower blocks dominate its town centre. Northumberland Heath and Barnhurst to the south offer more semis and bungalows. Belvedere has a similar make up of property with the best properties to be found in Upper Belvedere.
The developments of new apartments and houses in Thamesmead North overlooking the marshes of the Thames offer a cheaper alternative to the pricier properties to be found along the riverbank in Greenwich.
