Although one of the smallest boroughs, Hammersmith and Fulham is best known for Shepherds Bush – which has played home to BBC Television Centre since 1960. The BBC has seen production of world-famous programmes such as Monty Pythons Flying Circus and Blue Peter, as well as radios BBC World Service.
Hammersmith town itself houses two large shopping centres and is a bustling part of London. The riverside area has a variety of pubs to choose from and is the best place from which to view the annual Cambridge and Oxford Boat Race. Hammersmith Apollo and Hammersmith Palais are two of London’s favourite venues.
Hammersmith and Fulham is now firmly established as fashionable and trendy, the borough has property prices and an attitude to match. Elaborate redbrick mansion blocks dominate Hurlingham and the borough's borders with the Thames, whilst to the north, West Kensington offers grander white stucco terraces before the monotony of Hammersmith's office blocks and shops.
The heavily congested roundabout that is Hammersmith town centre and pleasant streets of residential Victorian flats and houses predominate. Ravenscroft Park offers differing sizes of Victorian cottages and terraces whilst larger Georgian houses can be found overlooking the river, if a little close to the flyover.
Popular with first time buyers attracted by a plentiful stock of reasonably priced Victorian terraces and conversions along with a central location and good transport links. Larger houses to the west feel more like neighbouring Chiswick.
